Overview TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. (TNBR) is the research arm of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). It is also an independent, not for profit centre for energy and environmental research. In 1997, TNBR received approval by Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) as an R&D status company and became eligible for many governmental incentives.
Today, TNBR is focused on conducting R&D that adds value and are aligned to TNB corporate needs as well as national aspirations. Most of their R&D works are geared towards addressing some of the most pressing electricity issues of our times, including:
how to meet the increasing demand for electricity while mitigating the effects on the environment; how to ensure power generation options remain efficient, available and sustainable; how to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity transmission and distribution to TNB’s customers
These R&D endeavours are supported by 7 core laboratories. These laboratories include:
